‘Womb’ traditional lime wash rooftop mural for hotel 2021
The piece was part of a residency with Arnica Gallery, and Parco De Sesi, a unique residence and hotel in centre of a natural park in Pantelleria. The ‘sesi’ were these ancient tombs created within the landscape by the original inhabitants of the island. They believed this dome like structures were like going back to the womb - I wanted to create a artwork that reflected that. The final work also reflects the traditional way the rooftops are painted with these irregular white patterns, using traditional lime-wash. The work work has appeared in Vogue and Elle deco Italia, and still stands as central space for gatherings in the hotel.
